This is real love - not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:10 NLT
How do you define a blessing? What is it exactly? Well before we get into that, let me introduce myself. Hi. I'm Becky - a follower of Jesus, a creator and a car enthusiast. My paint and washi tape are slowly taking over the study in our house which I've had a few complaints about from the rest of my family but really they're quite happy to come and borrow some of my supplies. I love reading God's Word, the Bible, and then making some kind of art to remind me of what I've learnt. In fact I've created a small business out of it because I couldn't keep the amazing promises I discovered to myself; but I'll come back to that later.
I hope this blog encourages you. I hope it inspires you. Challenges you. But the aim of this blog? Simple. To share God's Word. Each month we'll look at a verse or passage from the Bible. Think about how it applies to you and who else you can share it with.
So now that we have introductions over, what is a blessing? An important thing to know is that a blessing is good. Dictionaries describe it as something that we benefit from. Something we are thankful for. What or who is a blessing in your life?
I can think of many things and people for my answer to this question. My family are the most hilarious people I know. Quite often I'm brought to tears of laughter. They're also some of the most loving and caring people I know. They definitely qualify as a blessing. My car (aka Maggie) is another blessing. Not only does it bring me to where I need to be, it's also a great place to go when I just need some 'alone time'. The best blessing in my life is stated in 1 John 4:10.
The first line is something that most people are searching for - real love. Not the kind that doesn't last. Not the kind that appears to be real but then you find it's fake. Real love is unconditional. Nothing needs to be done for it to be given. God loves you with real love, in fact He is real love. His choice to love you does not depend on whether you love Him or not ~ 'not that we loved God'. God created you so He loves you. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for you. God's Son took the punishment you deserve for your sin, for every wrong thing you have done and will do in the future. That is real love.
When writing this first blog, I thought I would have written more but then I realised that's it. It's simple - God loves you so much that He gave His only Son to take your punishment. The problem comes when people don't want to receive the best blessing. God offers this blessing unconditionally to you. You who is reading this blog right now. To accept this offer ask God for forgiveness and trust in Him. Those who accept receive the greatest blessing of a relationship with God and eternal life with Him in Heaven. Those who don't accept remain separated from God because of their sin. God's heart is breaking for those who refuse to accept because He loves them yet they are far from Him (read more in Mark ch 15-16, John ch 3 v 1-21).Why would you run away from real love?
Bountiful Blessings is all about sharing the message of the greatest blessing. The aim is a chain reaction. I want to be a blessing to you whether that is through you reading the blog, seeing a post on Instagram or purchasing a product from my shop. I pray that you will be reminded of the greatest blessing, encouraged to keep growing and challenged to live this out. The next part is up to you. Share the message of the greatest blessing with someone else. I know we can be fearful of this but pray about it and ask God to give you the courage - He will do it. Bountiful Blessings has a few ideas to help as you point others to God's love:
